This is a great book for the older youth/teen set - although also a good read for adults. It moves along quickly, involves some interesting characters and is a nice "clean" book. You buy this is a gift and not have to worry that there might be any unsuitable parts. It is also very true to the area - the places, names and locals will ring true for anyone who has spent much time in the Florida keys. Overall, it's a good uplifting read!
The development of the characters, including Flapper and Squeaky, was good and storyline fun and intriguing. The ending was heartwarming. All ages would enjoy this book, but I am especially going to recommend it to all my friends between 10-16.
This was one of the best books I have read this year. It is an intriguing mystery as well as funny. I had a hard time putting it down, once I got started. Mr. Stovall has a home run with this one.Can't wait for more adventures of CJ, Flapper, Squeaky and Skye. He may have intended this as a young adult book, but I am 51 and it has caught me. Well written and researched. So, Mr.Stovall sir, if you read this, get cracken' on the next one.
I finished Stovall’s first book “ The Cuban Sanction” about three weeks ago, and immediately dove into his 2nd, “Miracle at Indian Key” (1st book of a trilogy). Well, I was taken in again. Oh, what a wonderful read. Just like the first, his second book took up almost all of my spare time. All the excitement and wanderlust is griping. This book is so full of adventure it will capture all ages of readers.
Also, once again, I felt l like I was right there wherever the characters were-- on the water, on a dock, in a restaurant, wherever they are, it takes you there too. …… WELLLLLLLL, I have already completed his third book “Marquesas Gold” (#2 of a trilogy), but that is for a separate review……..I have found my next best author. And I am patiently (not really) awaiting Tom’s third book of the trilogy.
I thoroughly enjoyed J. Thomas' first novel, THE CUBAN SANCTION and looked forward to reading this, his second.. I expected another action/adventure novel, but discovered this was another genre, Young Adult. Although I am not a young adult, I waded into it and soon learned He had put plenty of action/adventure into the story; i.e., Skye, a 15 year-old girl can communicate telepathically with a pelican and with a dolphin , who will play a major role in the story. Her best friend, a 16 year-old boy named CJ,,joins her where they witness an explosion on a boat, saved the driver's life, salvaged the sunken boat, helping solve a murder case, and later discovered a smuggling operation on Indian Key. There is more that enough to satisfy any action/adventure aficionado like myself.
This is a good read for anyone.
Great job Thomas. Absolutely loved this book. I can't wait for the next one now! When is it coming out?
